About the Editor

Larry Olson is a native Texan, a graduate of Texas Tech University and a registered Architect in the State of Texas.  He has worked on urban planning projects in the US, Europe & North Africa.

On March 3, 2020, Larry started the SmartGrowth: Georgetown blog to discuss key urban development topics affecting the Georgetown community with a detailed focus on Downtown and Old Town issues.

In 2021, he founded the Anna+Anton Olson Legacy Foundation which provides philanthropic grants that strengthen the Georgetown, Hutto, and Taylor communities by enriching all generations.

Larry was the Founding member of the Old Town Neighborhood Association in February 2023.  He served as the Association’s first Government Liaison.

In addition to working on his Foundation and other community-related activities, Larry explores how other cities around the country deal with their urban development issues and which ones could potentially be best practices for Georgetown’s future growth.
