About the Editor
Larry Olson is a native Texan, a graduate of Texas Tech University and a registered Architect in the State of Texas.
He has worked on urban planning projects in the US, Europe & North Africa and has overseen more than $1 billion in public sector construction projects. During his professional career, he has negotiated over $7 billion in public & private sector contracts.
While in the public sector, Larry was Pennsylvania’s Deputy State Treasurer and then as the Commonwealth’s first Chief Information Officer. Returning to Texas, he was appointed as the State’s first Chief Technology Officer.
In 2021, he founded The Anna+Anton Olson Legacy Foundation which provides philanthropic grants to help strengthen the Georgetown, Hutto, and Taylor communities through a life cycle of caring.
Larry was the Founding member of the Old Town Neighborhood Association in February 2023. He also served as the Association’s Government Liaison for one term.
In addition to working on his Foundation and other community-related activities, Larry explores how other cities around the country deal with their urban development issues and which ones could potentially be best practices for Georgetown’s future growth.
